What is Open Graph?
Open Graph is the set of meta tags that tells social platforms how to display your link: the image, title, and description in the card people see before they click. When those tags are missing, a shared link shows up as a bare, unappealing URL, and far fewer people click it.
The tags that matter most
- og:image — the picture in the card. Use 1200×630 for the cleanest result.
- og:title — the headline. Keep it punchy and under about 60 characters.
- og:description — one or two lines of context.
- twitter:card — set to summary_large_image for a big image on X.
A good card earns more clicks
Every share is free distribution, but only if the card looks worth clicking. Get the image and copy right once, and every link you post afterward works a little harder for you.
